In the dairy sector, food packaging has traditionally been made from PP (polypropylene) or PS (polystyrene). However, within Europe, no food safe mechanically recycled material is currently approved for direct food contact for these plastics. That is why INTOPACK and ALPLA (www.alpla.com) are introducing a groundbreaking solution: rePETec, based on the versatile and fully recyclable PET.
For the first time, we have succeeded in producing thin walled PET IML packaging containing recycled material, a true first within the plastics packaging industry.
