rePETec:
Fully recyclable
and circular
While food packaging for dairy products is often made of PP (polypropylene) or PS (polystyrene), and for both there is no approved recycling material from the mechanical recycling process for food contact available, INTOPACK and ALPLA have the solution, based on the all-rounder PET (polyethylene terephthalate).
For the first time, we have succeeded in producing thin-walled PET plastic IML packaging with recycled material. rePETec stands for the interplay of innovative technology, mould, process and material handling.
Key Benefits
- Fully Recyclable: Fully recyclable and circular food packaging
- PPWR-Compliant: Meets all PPWR requirements
- Customizable: Client-specific filling volume from 100 to 500 millilitres
- Ultra-Thin Design: Ultra-thin wall thickness of 0.35 millimetres
- Superior Performance: Better barrier properties than PP, PE or PS alternatives
- Flexible rPET Content: PCR content freely selectable – up to 100%
- Food Safe: Food safety approved
"PET material can be directly reused for food packaging via mechanical recycling, making IML food packaging from PET not only 100% recyclable but also 100% circular. The latter is currently difficult to realize for PP food packaging within the current European food safety legislation."— Ron Vogels, Manager Technology & Development at INTOPACK
Available from Q1 2026
Standard formats: 180 and 300 millilitres, with other formats to follow. Depending on customer wishes, the filling volume can vary from 100 to 500 millilitres.
